How do I count the number of pages in my perfect bound book?

Updated this week

This is one of the most common questions — and getting it right is important for setting up your order and calculating the spine.

When we say “pages,” we mean every single printed side, just like how you’d flip through a book.

So:

  • 1 sheet printed on both sides = 2 pages

  • A 32-page book has 32 single pages (front and back included)

Don’t include spreads or double-page designs as one page. And don’t count sheets — always count each page that will be printed.

Also, remember: the cover counts too. That includes the front, back, and both inside cover pages.

If you’re unsure, just send us your file — we’ll count it for you.
