Made from the hemp plant, cannabis paper - also known as hemp paper - is not only environmentally friendly but very different from tree paper. Because it consists exclusively (or primarily) of pulp obtained from fibers in the hemp plant, cannabis paper has a unique look and feel. The following three distinguishing factors set cannabis apart from regular tree paper:
- The Colour
Unlike the stark white of regular tree paper, the hemp plant give the paper produced from it a cream color. The cream color has a warm tone and falls between beige (#F5F5DC) and antique white (#FAEBD7).
- The Texture
Unlike tree paper, cannabis paper does not have a smooth texture. Instead, it is a textured paper that has a natural, uncoated feel.
- The Durability
Due to its long fibers, hemp paper has a higher tear resistance and tensile strength when compared to wood paper. It also far superior to tree paper as it does not yellow, crack, or deteriorate, making it the durable option in the paper industry.
