How to Export Your Canva File in a Print-Ready Format

Learn how to export your Canva designs in print-ready format with our easy steps, ensuring perfect colors and quality

Updated over 2 months ago

Canva is an amazing tool for creating all sorts of designs, from flyers to business cards, greeting cards, and more. At Jukebox, we love seeing your Canva creations, but to make sure they print perfectly, there are a few extra steps to get them print-ready.

Your design is done, and the dimensions are spot-on—great! Now let’s make sure it’s ready to shine in print:

Step 1: Load Up Your Design

Open your design in Canva and give everything a quick check. Is all the info correct? Are your images looking sharp? Awesome, let’s move on.

Step 2: Click the Share Icon

Time to export! Head over to the top right of your screen and click the Share icon.

Step 3: Hit the Download Button

In the drop down menu, select Download. We’re almost there!

Step 4: Choose PDF Print

When choosing the file type, go for PDF Print. This format ensures your design is saved in the highest quality, which is exactly what you need for print.

Step 5: Add Crop Marks and Bleed

Next, check the box for Crop Marks and Bleed. This little detail is super important to make sure your design prints out just right, especially if it touches the edges.

Step 6: Switch to CMYK

Here’s the crucial part: in the color profile section, switch from RGB to CMYK (best for printing). CMYK is what we use for printing, so this step makes sure your colors will come out just right. Heads up—colors might look a little different after this switch, so it’s a good idea to review your file and make any tweaks you need.

Note: If you don't see the CMYK option, you'll need to upgrade your Canva plan to Canva Pro. Canva Pro offers advanced features, including the ability to export in CMYK, which is essential for high-quality printing.

Step 7: Review and Adjust

Give your file one last look. If the colors seem off, no worries—you can always jump back into Canva, adjust, and re-export until it’s perfect.

For the final check, make sure your exported PDF includes the crop marks. Below is an example of how the finished file should look with the crop marks in place.

Once you're happy, go ahead and upload that PDF to your order. You’re all set!
